I think the general consensus is that most additives don't provide any meaningful benefit, especially for the price. Syntheics are superior to non-synth in many ways, but have a tendency to exacerbate leaking problems (see oil post below). The most important thing is to change your oil at regular intervals (3-4K miles) and keep an eye on the level between changes. The Search function will give some insight on oil questions, but experiences from the other boards help also. Here's a couple of posts:
