ect block(matches the vin#).Still working on the dieseling problem was sujested to me that it could have the wrong head, so yesterday I checked the block and the head an those are the number's.

E12 head is used on US model 02 after Sept 72. You have the correct head on this engine. This head can be used with flat top pistons or the raised grand piano pistons (not the 45 deg rotated grand piano pistons)
Have you tried retarding the timing a bit or making sure the idle is not too fast? Dieseling means that when the engine is shut off it continues to run, is this the case? Also, excess carbon build up in the cyl can also cause diesling.
