It all depends on your needs, a stock 02 with good rubber is great. Once you get bigger wheels and tires it handles better but you want to upgrade some components. My car is a daily driver so I went with stock rubber and do not regret it(I was afraid of the harshness and the noise). I just had my suspension redone. It now has H&R progresive rate springs (can't tell you how much)which lower the car about an inch, bilsteins sports in front and HD's in back. I also installed front adjustable camber plates (which replace the upper strut bearing) and all new suspension parts. Once everything was put together the newfound firmness in the suspension made my tires rub against the steering rods (wheels are 6.5 wide)so I had to install 1/8 spacers. With that out of the way I went for more speed in the turns, still not happy I installed Irelands front strut brace. Now the car has better tracking and less understeer but I still lean a little which with my lsd and abundant power makes my car oversteer (M3 motor 02's must be really fun), to compensate I try to come in a little harder in the turns to keep my line without upsetting the balance of the car. Next in the menu would be thicker sway bars which I hope will help in keeping my rear end planted. If you look in the archives you will find tons of info, once you digest come back for more specific questions as I'm sure you will have. With that said do not forget about the brakes, you will prob have questions about them to.
