The comments provided by Mike and Andy are very good sound advice.

Lowering the car (maximum 1") is beneficial because it lowers the center of gravity. Lowering it even more begins to adversely affect the geometry which will increase the roll rate.

Slightly stiffer springs are very helpful since you will probably be using tires with more grip than those that came with the car. But even more important is a larger front bar and stiffer shocks.

Polyurethane bushings should be used only in the sway bar mounts. Elsewhere (in front) will cause binding of the suspension limiting movement and increasing the spring rate sky high. Urethane bushings also increase suspension and body vibration which increases fatique of structural elements. New rubber properly installed is easily the best solution.

In addition to increasing the grip of the car you should be concerned about the balance in a corner. When the rear gets loose, its often a result of soft front springs, resulting in picking up the inside rear wheel. Balancing the roll couple distribution will help as will slightly more rear toe in.
