A guy in Christchurch NZ says that the E30 318i 'box is the way to go. Much stronger than any of the 2002 units. So many people have robbed early 320s of their 5 speed that they are becoming scarce in certain parts of the world. The other thing is, he reckons the installation and in particular the clutch is a lot more straight forward. You do need to use the Speedo from the E30 though and get it calibrated to suit. He has quoted me 1500-1800NZD fitted! (650-800USD, 400-500 GBP) Sounds like a bargain to me! We are all familiar with the standard 320 5 speed swap in ou 02s. Anyone know about using the 5 speed from an e30 318? this is a more modern trans, supposedly a better fit in the tunnel, and so forth. What clutch setup is used, which throwout, etc? Open for input...
