Aligning Front Bumper on '76 ( what's the trick?) (archive)

Fellow '02 Fanatics!

OK, I have had a front bumper that just will NOT adjust "level" ever since I've had the car (it's a '76 in super condition)...I just replaced the bumper shock on the side that "sags" (passenger side) and while it seems to be a wee bit better, basically, the exercise was just that....an exercise. The bumper still sags on the pass side. I have a critical eye, but I've seen other '74-'76 cars with bumpers that are level.

It doesn't appear that there is much "adjustment" on these big bumpers either...that would help...so there must be a "trick", but I'm at a loss....maybe the bumper itself is not perfect (although it appears to be straight).

Any suggestions? I actually "like" these bumpers (unlike many of you)...it is my daily driver, and I feel safer with the big 'uns .

Happy '02ing,

John Weese
