I order a new harness for my cold start valve for my 74tii,is a huge harness meaning that I'm going to have open up a lot of the main harness to make it look good. The question I can I get the cloth like material that bmw uses or a I'm going to have to use the tape for this

I may be wrong, but I believe that what BMW used was "friction tape" or seemingly better described as 'anti-friction tape'.

I've used it before to redo my 1602's harness. In retrospect, if you don't have a show winner, I would replace the friction tape with the newer plastic harness - the one that is serrated and is split to fit over the wires. Just my opinion, but it is far more accessable for repairs than the tape.
