Not to make a big deal, but for information purposes only those pieces are to seal the air intake to the heater box. Combined with the transverse seal on the hood itself, these 'box out' any engine bay fumes and prevent their entry into the car via the heater/blower.
And the repro parts Carl sells at CNPR work great.
