Replaced door seals , now door barely closes... (archive)

Yesterday I replaced the driver side weatherstripping and now I can barely close the door. In fact I really have to slam it to get it to close and even then it isn't closed all the way. Is this normal? I know that new rubber will make it tighter but I wasn't counting on that much. BTW, it probably had original rubber which I am sure got mashed in pretty good after 30 years of use. Any input is appreciated.
