Reinstalling Heater Box (archive)

When I removed the heater box, I was just really careful and didn't drain the cooling system. What will happen if I don't bleed the coolant (as is generally recommended) after rehooking up the heater box? Can I just reconnect everything and add coolant as the car warms up or will I leave air in the system or something that will keep everything from working correctly?
