Loose rear shocks? (archive)

Took a spin through the mountains today and noticed a rattle coming from the back of the car. Went in the trunk when I arrived home and I could move the shocks around with my hand.

Is there something special I should know before I take a wrench to them like a certain torque, have to be elevated, etc or can I just tighten away?
