Tim, I don't know if you have sorted this all out yet but there should be two spades on the solenoid - one regular size, ignition key start connection and the other smaller which runs to the coil to bypass the external reistor and supply higher voltage to the coil during startup. The smaller one should connect to a red wire. If you have replaced the coil with another (Bosch red or blue) then smaller spade wire may have been altered or bypassed completely. Mine has a blue coil and the external resistor and the startup wire have both been bypassed. The starter will work, or should work, just fine with the wire to the larger spade only. Good luck. Terje If any of you with a 75 can help me, I would much appreciate it. Which wires run to your starter? I have the main heavy wire from battery +, and then two additional spade terminals. What wires go on the spades? I have numerous empty emissions-related wires, one heavier wire with a black insulator and a smaller wire with a red insulator. They all come out of the same sheathing that runs from the relays on the drivers side firewall. If anyone can tell me how their car is set up I would much appreciate it. I am having quite bizarre problems.
