I don't know if this will apply to you since your address indicates that you're in New Zealand. Here in the U.S., you can buy just the small patch panel for lower edge of the rear quarter panel instead of the whole panel.

If you contact some of the better '02 recyclers in the US, perhaps they can supply you with just what you need from a donor car body.

BTW, Bimmer Parts does sell that small patch panel and their website address is www.bimmerpartsco.com. You won't find the particular part on the website, but you can use it to contarct them.
