Yes, it is a good idea. As Jonathan said, it's now well broken in. Synthetic will cut wear rate considerably due to increased slipperiness, and it's improved viscosity will protect your valve train - which is a really important thing in an M10 engine with its spray-lubrication system for the cam lobes etc.

Mobile 1, Valvoline Syntec or Castrol are the minimum quality I would use. Better (more expensive) alternatives are Red Line and AMSoil.
