Need Help: Alternator Wiring Instruction (archive)

I tried searching the archives but they are down. Does anyone know how to wire a 320i alternator? There was a clip on the old alt., a big power wire, and a ground. Am I to use the big power wire & ground and only the blue wire from the clip? I saw this a while back and thought I could wing it but- here it is Sunday night and Frankenstein is flat lined.
Any immediate help is greatly appreciated.
