Scott, get ahold of a rust free tub from california, strip yours and use it for parts. If you chose(IT IS YOUR CAR) you could spend a small fortune on it, or you could just use it for fun and enlightenment. What ever you do,"HAVE FUN"
So, i was new to this site last week and I was excited about my '76 inka orange '02 with 67k miles.

Well, i finally got the title and the car has 167k miles. And i got the car in the shop (looked at it in the dark previously) and have found the floor pans rusted out, most body panels have decent amount of rust and the spare tire well is rusted through. the shock towers are okay, but i will need new shocks, springs, brakes, tires, clutch....

oh -
and it also dripping oil like crazy (gaskets?), misfires, has a weber carb. without an air cleaner (which means a bunch hoses i don't have disconnected) and i think the fuel system is clogged....

i got the car for free and have a shop where i can work on it and some free time,

BUT-

does this car sound too far gone to be brought back ???
