Later 02's and 3-series have that style. I don't know when it changes.
I also don't understand what's the "upgrade" if it's changed. Maybe you can call it upgrade if it's from Ferrari.;)

What doe you mean that later '02s have that style? My '76 brake fluid reservoir does not mount directly onto the master cylinder. It mounts to the fender with hoses to the master cylinder.
