How much boom do you want determines how much sub you want.. The ohms thing is simple... your amp runs at 12 volts.. car battery power.. well if it's got a 4 ohm speaker in the circuit.. just hypothetically and very oversimplified.. Voltage=Amperage * Resistance so 12v= 3amps* 4 ohms.. or 12v=6 amps * 2 ohms.. much higer current (amps) flow with a 2 ohm system.. but to get that system you would have to wire up 2 subs in parrallel with an amp to support it. as for power... RMS is what you wanna look at Max power is a joke... as for specs on subs try and get an amp that cranks 90% of what the sub can do.. so for a sub that can hold 100 watts RMS... put a 90 watt rms amp on it.. paper cone subs suk.. polypropolyne or aluminum are the way to go... rubber surrounds always.. foam rots in florida sun.. as for the Qvalues that you get with a sub.. this determins what kind of box volume you need.. blaupunkt makes a lil dos program for box engineering that is very helpfull... www.blaupunkt.com.. yes 2 10's with alot of power will run better than 2 12"s on medium.. 2 10's in a 2002 will hurt your ears.. 2 -12"s will fill your trunk with not a whole lotta more thump.. Not getting into crossovers or brand names.. if you need ne more info.. email me
OK, I want some info on sub woofers. What do the specification they give you mean? And why do you get more power with less ohms and all that (with the amps)? I know this isn't directly related with 02's, but I wanna know so I can put some in my 02. Also I hear 2 10's with a lot of power sounds better than 2 12's with moderate power, is this true?
