Assuming it's adjusted properly. Pull choke all the way out. If car has been sitting for more than a few days you may have to pump the gas before starting. Start engine. When it starts push choke in gradually until it runs at about 1k and/or doesn't stall. Sometimes you may have to feather with the gas pedal to prevent stalling. Once you are driving you can further adjust choke in or out for smooth driving until car fully warms up.

greetings and salutations...

My '73 had an automatic choke. Pump 2 times and turn the key. my "new" '74 has a manual choke, and I can't seem to get the hang of it.

Pull, then turn key? Any pumping involved? How long do I leave it out for (besides the obvious until it stalls answer!).

Any help would be appreciated.

thx!
