The PO of my car (1600) got creative and drilled two VERY tiny holes on either end of a slat that was broken off and then two corresponding holes on the body of the grille. He then threaded a very thin silver wire through each side and tied it on the back.

You really can't tell at all. maybe some kind soul has a junked grille lying around they could send you.
