Re: Locked rear on an autoX car?!?!?! (archive)

Our autocross courses are done on runway's thanks to the our local navy air station. Most of the course is a series of slaloms and gates then a big turn around corner at the end and then back up the other sided of the runway. I got about 8 or 9 runs in it with the locked rear and I know it sounds silly but it lets you 4 wheel drift around the back corner and steer with the throttle. Rubber is just that rubber. more can be bought. I was running faster laptimes than MR2's and my motor is weak. A guy who also runs in my class has his 320i locked and runs faster than me :) If ya got a old open stock rear and feel like playing with something new try it. There's worse things on the planet that you can do.

no wonder it blew! locked rears arent supposed to be used in turns, man!! You must have spent rubber all over the inside of the rear fenders! Cant help you on replacement. Try shermanmartinez@hotmail.com. Hes always got stuff in stock. Others may have cheaper prices, but sherman's got the goods. (bought LSD, tii trailing arms, e21 sport wheel from him.)

I had weled my stock rear end spider gears up in hopes of producing a "Locked" rear end. now I have bits and pieces and no useable rear end.... Well since this is a pure AutoX car then I'm looking at getting a LSD rear. I like the feel of a locked rear. it drastically helps. The two wheels pulling dropped lap times today untill it blew on launch producing lots of pieces ;) What percentage LSD should I get? and does anyone have one forsale? I need one pronto. Thanks
