Car is in garage until I replace guibo!!! EOM (archive)

My guibo came apart in four pieces when I pulled it from the car (8bolt). Turns out it had been living in pieces for months, probably, before I pulled the 4spd and noticed it. From below, before I took it out, it merely looked cracked, not broken. Be Careful!!

Today it happened.

For the last few months, I had been hearing an ever-intensifying ticking noise under the car only when moving, and a noise whose frequency increased with speed (i.e.driveshaft rotation). It got really loud today, and then "thud," and I see a small piece of rubber in the rearview mirror, trailing away as I keep driving. I thought iut was the guibe before this happened, but now I think it is the tranny mount. I didn't have access to the jack today, so I'll have to poke around tomorrow or Tuesday to find out what's up. The car is driveable, it just feels like the tranny is moving around more than before.

Any ideas?
