Matt, not to diss you, but you seem to be heading in a multitude of directions with your '02. It might be wiser to do things in phases and see how thing develop before proceeding to the next step.

As for your original question about retaining the rubber bushings in the control arm. A lot depends on how sensitive your butt-o-meter is, the type of driving you plan to do mostly and the types of roads you drive on.

If your streets are as smooth as glass, then polyurethane bushings may not feel as rough to you compared to driving on the cobblestones in Boston. So, start off with your new control arms and their rubber bushings. That will give you a reference point as to how a relatively stock '02 should handle and feel like on the road.

If you still want more stiffness in your steering/suspension setup, then consider sport Bilsteins, etc. But, make one change at a time. Otherwise, you will not know if you have an improvement, no change, or something deterimental.
