If you can change your oil, then you can fix your tail lights. Start out by checking your ground wires to the tailights. You can find the ground wire(s) easily since they are generally have a brown plastic insulation on them. The ground wire should be attached to the car body somewhere in the trunk. Make sure that ground connection is clean and secure.

Thanks Dwight. I forgot to mention that I checked all the fuses and they looked good. However, I will clean all the contacts and check the ground wires. I live near the "other" Dwight, who speaks very highly of you.

Next, check your fuses in the fusebox. You can buy electrical contact cleaner at just about any hardware store now days. Use a bit of emery paper to clean up the fusebox contacts and follow up with the contact cleaner. Do the same for the fuses or just replace them.

If the problem is still there, you may have a short circuit somewhere. You would notice this if your fuse for that particular circuit is blown.
