how to properly use spare por-15 gas tank coating (archive)

just finished putting the coating material on the inside of my gas tank. after i finished draining the excess i have about 3/4's of a can unused.
question - after it dries should i put a second coat on the inside of the tank? has anyone done this? is it a smart or dumb thing to do?
i think i could probably put about 3 or 4 more coats on the inside. I hate to throw the stuff away (too expensive) and want to do the best job possible while the tank is out.
ideas? suggestions?
