Well...what can I say....
my 1975, bought last September, finally got the plate put on it after sitting since 1988. The car hadn't been driven in over 13 years!!! I swapped the single barrel Solex for a double barrel Weber 32/36, changed the intake manifold, switched the plumbing, put new brake lines in it...(already did the rotors, pads, drums, shoes...etc.
I embarked on a 250 mile hike from my parents house in Canada to my place in Michigan...
I couldn't believe the car....after all that time...and still able to reach 90 miles per hour on the Interstate. What a rush!!!!
Some of the people on this board recommended that I take my gas card and my AAA card....well I didn't need either...luckily.....the ride went off without a hitch and I plan on selling my other daily driver to fall even more in love with this great little car.
Keep 02'inMike
I bought a '71 off the bimmer.com board last Feb. I live in Chicago the car was in Oakland. My company has a site in LA so I decided to fly to Oakland & drive to LA. Well of course I missed my flight and arrive in Oakland at 4:30 PM. Pay for the car, jump in and in a cloud of blue smoke off I go. No problems but as I pass Bakersfield it starts to snow...biggest flakes I've ever seen. But the wipers work and the heaters on so on I go...To make a long story short I am one of the last cars through the Grapevine pass, which then closes for two days!.. After 450 miles, we pull into LA, cold & wet but havin' a great time. Got her in Chicago now and drivin her everyday. What a great car.
