In addition to Jonathan's fine suggestions, after doing the tuneup, you also need to check the idle mixture and idle speed. With an automatic transmission, you may have to set the idle speed a tad higher since the transmission is still applying a load on the engine.

The same situation occurs in a car when you have a AC system running, it bogs down the engine a bit. In modern cars, the computer compensates for it and increases the gas flow ever so slightly. In older carburated cars, you might find a vacuum diaphragm or electrical solenoid in the carb linkage opening the throttle a tiny bit.
