Here is a way to check if the fuel pump is working. The next time it stalls check to see if there is any fuel in the filter. Most of our cars have clear plastic filter that let you see the fuel. The reason I suggest this is that I had problems once, just like yours. Turns out when I took apart the fuel pump, to see what was the matter with it, the internal parts were all lose, so it would work intermittently. I got a new one and it has been working fine for, oh, about 15 years.
