IMO if you have frame rails etc a different color they have been painted later.

I have the engine out of my '72 so I can paint the engine compartment before sending the car to the paint shop. My car was reapinted once before, so it is hard to tell what was black and what was body color (chamonix in this case). It appears that the front frame rails were black, and the rest of the compartment body color. Is this correct? It also appears that the area behind the grilles but in front of the radiator bulkhead (where the headlight buckets are, inside the nose area) were also originally flat black. Is this correct? Does anyone have an '02 with original paint that they could take a look at? Any info greatly appreciated.
