I tried for a DAY to put a Bilstein in one of my old strut housings on the '76 I had and it would not go in. I thought I was losing my mind.

I took it to the local BMW garage and the guy charged me $20 (for his beer money) to straighten/scope it out. A big DUH! on my part.

A possibility, anyway.
