It's just a round hole. Incrementally drill smaller to larger holes till you've got the size needed. I would buy new clips if I were you as the old ones tend to get brittle. Push them through the front(fabric) side or cut a notch in them and screw them in from back. P.S. I would go the formica or abs. Plexi is a little brittle.
