The sidedrafts will definitely be an upgrade to the stock Solex, but personally I'd go with Webers and a good linkage set-up. I've got an original TI like a few others on this board and I think some of them will agree with me - Vince?

The Solex set-up is very finicky, so are Webers but parts etc are easier to come by and they stay in tune longer. Regardless, you find a big learning curve to keeping your carbs balanced and running smooth - a very worthwhile experience.
