I have stripped a few of these allen bolts. Get yourself a nice pair of vise-grips..

As far as the 36mm nut. I was told to tighten it by getting the longest pipe and standing on it. I forget the torque spec but it is alot. I once needed two people on a 3 or 4 foot pipe to break one loose.
