Is the contact on the back of (any 2002) steering wheel for the horn only? I took my stock wheel off my '72, and put on a Momo 'Alpina' wheel. (not an original alpina). My stock wheel has the 'spring' on the back that makes contact with the brass ring on the steering column. The momo one has the same type of thing, only a brass rod instead of a spring. The brass rod is NOT long enough to touch the column. Fine, i'm thinking, my horn just wont' work, i'll worry about it later.

But with the momo wheel on, i can't even turn the key?? Does the circuit have to be complete or something for the key to turn? This makes no sense to me. And I tried it 3 times. Took the original off, put the momo on, can't turn the key. put the original back on, key turns/starts. repeat 2 more times, same result. As far as I can tell, it is the correct hub. The guy I got it from said he took it off a 2002.

??
thanks
canada matt
