Got the head off my 71 after I stripped the #4 plug hole. I bought the car in Calif, so it's rust free, but I knew I'd have to rebuild the head and probably do rings. I was hoping to make it through the summer but now, I am into it unexpectedly.
Question is, when I pulled the head, all of the piston tops and pretty carboned up. The valves as well, especially #2's, interestingly, the #3& 4 exhaust valves are very clean...anyway it doesn't look anything like the Haynes manual....Diagnosis??? Thoughts??? HELP! I want to try to do as much of the work as I can myself to save $$$ TIA
