Now I know, this should be obvious. Pinging, right? But what is it that I am listening for? How loud is it? I am somewhat hard of hearing (seriously) and this makes it hard for me to pick out very high- or low-frequency noises, especially when there's a lot of background ruckus.

I have a fair amount of advance dialed in right now, and on uphills and other times of engine load I can hear what sounds like an electrical static or buzzing...radio is off. :) It's not terribly loud, but I can hear it. I'm not sure if it's pinging or road/wind/intake noise. If I completely let off the gas, it stops.

Nothing sounds painful, and the noise may well be induction-related, but I don't want to hurt my precious little pistons...

Thanks all!

a little putter (not the golfing instrument, as those by themselves are incapable of making sounds). However, you should be able to hear it. Sometimes you can feel it, but on my car, I can hear it very clearly when the advance is too great. It sounds like a tinking sometimes, too, especially when it's HOT out (like today).

How's them springs comin'?
