I used to do detailing too, and the heat gun is the best way I agree but I also agree not to use any thing abrasive to remove the glue residue (but if you use the heat gun right there wont be any residue!)
WD-40 is fairly mild solvent and works well to remove sticker glue like that. Hotter solvent or some carb cleaner can be used VERY carefully on a rag NOT sprayed on the paint. Then rewax the area
