These Z rated tires might be better compromise. I used them in autox and wasn't disapointed.
Traction is good to a point. They let you know when they're at their limit. They are no hoosier slicks though. But most street tire is nothing compared to slicks. autox is fun on streets but the difference between the hi performance tires isn't massive. These tires had awesome tracktion in the florida monsoon rains. Best bang is cost. I think I picked em up from tire rack for $60 a tire including shipping. I will say the yoko's and the michelins are great. I'm really impressed with my kuhmo's on my other car. Might look into them. Lotta people out where I am are runnin em. If this is a daily driver car or a fun car ya can't go wrong with almost any hi performance tire. No street tire is worth two bits at a autox drivers school. (Our drivers school is makes runs till you can't run any more, instructor rides with)They poured rubber off like it was water after my 12th run. just tearing to bits. Everyone not on the DOT slicks was having the same problem if they had oversteer. Quick break down of price for ya from tirerack
Michellin Pilots =75
Yoko-I = 54
Kuhmo =53
and well they don't sell the RE71's anymore. so damn
potenza RE730 = 78

I'd say yoko's if your looking for all out traction and the kuhmo's for lil more treadlife and comfort on street or find a set of RE71's if you can. I gotta love them.

Peace

Now that I have about a four week (hopefully) wait for my Rev wheels I figured I should get the scoop on rubber. I am looking for a tire that I can use for auto-x but can also be used on the road. The only time I drive in rain is if I get caught on the way back from a fest:)-rarely at most. Never in snow. I put about five thousand miles a year on the odo. so wear isn't a big issue either. Cost, as always, is a factor but I don't want to cheap out either. Basically I go for the most bang for the buck and stop just before the returns diminish. Your thoughts on this topic are appreciated. TIA
PS-any good deals on Bilstein sports around now?
