For the pump you have at least two choices:

BMW 16-12-1-107-414 USD 386 list, or
Bosch GFP 251 USD 170 if you shop around

(Prices from 1998)

Since 26-year old rubber has long ago retired, consider replacing the rubber pump mounts (16-12-1-177-891, USD 4.15) and *all* of the fuel hoses. Work outside, and have a big fire extinguisher within reach.

My 74tii is spewing (sp?) gas and I had it towed to my mechanic this morning. I guess it is the fuel pump, because the leak occurs when the car is started and driving, not when parked. Certainly, my diagnosis could be wrong, but what is the cost of a new electric pump? The only place online and in the archives told me around $375. Is this what I am looking at or are there other alternatives? Thanks.
