So you think it should be fine without welding in rods within the engine bay? I have a strut brace in place which should help with lateral flex, but probably not twist. It seems like that should help somewhat by stablizing the upper part of the struts. Nevertheless, I was surprised to feel how firm the inner fenders felt with nose off. Ahh...German engineering - ya gotta love it.

If you were to cut the rockers or the rear quarter panels, I would advise you to brace the car by welding a few rods in strategic places to triangulate the car and make it stronger when you remove the rusted sheet metal.

In the case of the nose, it should fit right in, unless the car has been involved previously in a crash.
