If you weren't very careful fooling with the suction valves, you could have easily let something enter the top portion of the suction valves (or worse yet, damaged a valve)....I replaced the o-rings on my '72tii awhile back...I had to be very careful to keep it clean in there with the hex head covers removed.

The suction valves should NOT be removed from the pump (according to the Kugel Manual) unless it is done so with the proper tools...they are very easy to damage...nothing sharp should be used to lift them out.

I'm afraid I don't know any more than that. Maybe someone more knowledgable can lend you a hand...but it sounds like something could have gotten into your pump (and plugged or partially plugged one of the lines)....a very touchy system...not to be messed with in there .

Changing the o-rings is about as far as I care to go.
