I pulled the head last night. Boy, the smell of cooked oil was strong! The head is 0.006" out of flat at the web between 2 & 3, and 0.005" between 1 & 2 and 3 & 4. Burnt anti-freeze abounds. The valves are straight and did not contact the pistons. There are no score marks in the bores and the cross hatch marks from the last cylinder honing are still there on all 4!!!!. I will pull the block and examin the lower end before this weekend. I expect to find the bearing shells to be dead, hopfully the crank survived. I will do a leak-down to test the rings. So far I feel VERY lucky. More later...
