I'm not sure what a "flat spot" would feel like. Are you saying the joint encounters binding or resistance as you move it through center? The big thing to watch out for is excess play. The joint should be smooth but tight (ahem!), with zero axial play at all normal angles. As soon as play comes into it, the joint deteriorates rapidly.

Does flat spots felt when rotating rear ujoints mean it needs to be rebuilt, or is it ok to continue to use ? It's only flat at the midpoint position of the two Ujoints and no where else on the rear Ujoint. I have a second driveshaft and it exhibits the same flat spot condition at the same position. SO that's why I am asking whether this is normal in wearing or just a fluke on my part and I have two shafts going out.,.

FYI, center bearing sagging, that's why I have driveshaft out to replace this part.

Also, who has the best prices and best reputation in providing rebuilds w/out defects ? Don't want to take out dshaft twice because it wasn't balanced right the first time out...
