so.. last night i went for a little spin up the highway, to sort things out in my head; after about 10 minutes of 65 mph, the temp gauge that had been hovering in the mid range, 'fell asleep,' and fell down, deep into the blue.

... it's fallen, and it won't come up.

i suppose i must have shaken some connection loose; any body have any advice on where i might look in the engine compartment to rectify this situation?..

thanks in advance for your time,

Look on the driver side of the engine on the coolant return elbow mounted to the head. A single wire with a spade lug has probably fallen off the temp sender that is mounted into the top of the coolant return elbow. If not follow the wire back toward the firewall and see if it is cut.
