BMW stuck with the same basic design for the 320i rear windows, but the latches are much beefier and stay open at higher speeds. Don't cost much from a boneyard.

Does anyone know if there is a way to tighten the rear window mechanism. My three year old got quite the pinched hand last night while sticking her hand out the rear window and her father hitting a bump which closed the window on her. I looked at the mechanism quickly and saw the knurled hinge in the middle was tight. Should I be able to stiffen that even more so that the window does a better job of staying open or (I know) does my child need to keep her hands inside the car (hard to explain to a three year)?

'76 mint grun that "attacks" children's hands!!
