Also, addressing WH's comments: I said that I could understand someone doing a full cost, very expensive restoration on a 2002 AS WELL AS I could see someone doing the same to a 3.0 CSL (Did I SAY 3.3 Batmobile?). First off, I would never even contemplate a restoration on either car unless I had a whole lot of cash, no job and a strong desire (and the skills) to undertake such a project. Secondly, I wasn't saying that if I had $50k that I would go out and restore an 02 to perfection. I was saying that I could understand someone going to this much trouble to restore an 02 as well as I could understand someone going to this much trouble to restore a CSL (which would probably run more like $75k anyways).
Lastly, you're never going to recoup half the money you spend on restoring either a 2002 or a CSL. If you do ever recoup half, you are very lucky. So, a restoration is never a good investment. I'd personally rather take a hit financially restoring a car I like better and would get somewhat more enjoyment out of driving. $50k spent on an already restored, pristine 3.3L Batmobile is without a doubt money better spent than $50k spent RESTORING an 02.
Jeez, if y'all care so little for the lowly 02, there is an E9 board just a few pages away :)
You have back up here John W. At first I was into the 2800/3.0's and then found the '72tii. I enjoy it alot more than the coupe although the coupe has superior styling. The 02's are alot easier to maintain and upkeep is alot less. I would like someday to have excellent examples of both but for now am happy with the tii and the 2800 money pit is long gone.
