It's a very common part to break. You can either ignore it or fab something out of sheet metal. I went to Home Despot and bought a galvanized framing "L" piece, hacked away enough so it didn't look totally ugly and pop-rivited it in place (cut off the vestigal pieces of the old bracket).

Not much for pretty, but hell for stout!
