Technician, thats what they call us now.Flat rate means booktime per job.Say if a waterpump pays 3 hrs and you do it in 1,you get paid for 3.If it takes you 5 hrs you get paid for 3.You can make alot of bucks if you are sharp and on your game. But if you can'nt hang you'll go broke. If it is a BMW dealership, ask about CSI bonuses. When you are new they will give you easy or routine task until you know whats going on and get some training. If you know electronics this will be a plus,if you do'nt BMW will train you,if you do'nt then you'll be out on your ass.You must be able to deal w electronics. We do every thing different from other car lines.Much more intense, but you will get factory training.Go for it and Good luck.WE NEED TECHS.
Reason I ask, is that I was offered a job at a dealership. It pays hourly plus flate rate. I have no clue about this. I have been a heavy mechanic for 8 years and have always worked hourly. Whats the deal? Thanks...
