I was actually wondering whether sheggaw could use the brake booster out of my '72 parts car for his 1600. It is nice to know that there are people on this board who are really helpful and think about how they can help stupid 02ers.

Thanks dude,
Elliot

Yes, I assume you currently have the early remote booster setup, with a funky looking booster mounted on the inside fender, on a bracket? It has the brake master cyl on the pedal box, that has hard lines to the booster?

You'll need a '70-'76 pedal box if you currently have or are installing a hydraulic clutch.

You'll need a '68 2002 pedal box if you're keeping the mechanical clutch.

After you remove your old brake booster, bracket, and pedal box, you'll need to remove your steering rod (which is between the steering wheel hub and the steering box), and cut a square out of your firewall insulation around the 4 bolts that hold the steering rod guide at the firewall.

Then mount the booster bracket on your new brake booster to those four holes on the firewall, reinstall bolts, reinstall steering rod, and connect brakes.

Hope this helps,

David
