I recently put a motor in my parts car, so it would become a runner. I hooked up all the radiator hoses and when i put water in the radiator i noticed a small lead that appeared to be coming from between the head and the block. This occured when the car was still sitting and not running.. Does this mean that my head would be cracked and i need to put on another, or is there something else that i am not thinking off. the leak occurs on the sraight underneath the distributer between the block and the head.
Any suggestions are welcome.
thanks,
brad

I would not pull that head off just to check unless you are sure its NOT the outlet fitting to the heater hose behind the head.
If its just the threaded in fitting you can replace it with another one and avoid pulling the head and all the time and expense that goes along with it.
That outlet is steel and can rust/corrode to the point of leaking or even breaking off so definitely check that out carefully first.
good luck,
